Somali Aid Organization (SOMAID) conducted an awareness campaign on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) among IDPs in Baladweyne. The campaign focused on educating the community about the different types of abuse, including physical abuse, sexual violence, emotional harm, economic control, forced marriage, FGM, verbal abuse, and online harassment. The activity formed part of the global 16 Days of Activism to End Violence Against Women and Girls, and also highlighted ways to seek support and protection.

SOMAID engaged mothers, youth, and local religious leaders to strengthen the safety, dignity, and empowerment of Somali women.
